Reverse-Engineered! - Elka 410CST1117

Feb 15, 2025

Reverse-Engineered! is an article series where I look at random small pieces of electronics.

What is it

The ELKA 410CST1117 is a linear negative voltage regulator. Although, to be more precise, it does not regulate the voltage. The output voltage will be ratiometric to the input voltage. So in actuality, it is more of a linear voltage reducer than a regulator.

I don't know if this was a design decision or just a shortcoming. Unfortunately, I could not find any references to this part on the internet.

Why do I have it and where did I get it from

This PCB is one of many analog synthesizers and organ parts I acquired at an auction about 15 years ago.
